MISSION OF MERCY

Mission of Mercy events are happening all over the country ! What are they ? MOM events last 2-3 days and are free events where dental professionals and laypeople provide free dental care to whoever needs it. It is that simple. The following page has listings of places , dates and times of the events throughout the U.S.

You would think the government would wisen up and see that if they are out to save costs , providing much needed REAL dental care would save much money from falling out of the medical pockets of the ones concerned with the financial aspect of the whole "deal" . Intelligence is not the governments strong point , is it ?

"The surgeon general’s report, Oral Health in America, reports that research has shown chronic oral infections can lead to heart and lung diseases, diabetes and stroke, premature births, and low birth weights.  Tooth decay and associated pain effect daily activities for four to five million children and adults a year. "-

Above quote from :http://www.raconline.org/info_guides/dental/

mmmmmmmmmm........And then the government complains of taking care of all these peoples' medical needs. Who really needs a check-up ?

An idea : take all the dental benefits from all government personal and make it impossible for them to get REAL AND GOOD dental care. They would get wise fast.

Here is a page with links to each state for dental assistance. It is probably more of a starting point to find information through contacts. If there is a contact person listed , call or e-mail them with your dental challenge and find if they have a solution.

It's all part of the American Dental Association's (ADA) sixth annual Give Kids A Smile program, which offers educational materials, screenings and, where possible, free dental care such as cleaning, fluoride treatments, fillings and even more intensive care.

* Please note : I have no money to help people. All I have is my resources. Although I would love to help people individually , I can only do this on a limited basis , as I am struggling with my own issues. I will continue to help as much as I can , in as many ways as I can , but please try to find your information from my pages and do some research before you ask me for individual help.  Asking me for help when the resources are right there is inconsiderate of my hard work and my own tiring medical conditions. If I don't reply to your message , it is because there are tons of other people who need help too.

Thank you , soulight

If you are a person who may have any ties to government funding

for low income dental care  please read the following .

People need more than just having their teeth pulled.

It is time that  ALL people who live in the United States have COMPLETE dental care benefits. The 15,000 plus people who have accessed this page need an answer NOW.

Some facts may be dated in the following , but I can say without doubt , THE SITUATION IS MUCH WORSE TODAY.

FACTS ON ORAL HEALTH IN AMERICA

  • 22 percent of adults report some form of oral-facial pain in the past six months.
  • Oral and pharyngeal cancers, which are primarily diagnosed in the elderly, are diagnosed in about 30,000 Americans annually and 8,000 die from this disease each year.

  •
  • Only 58 percent of the rural population had visited a dentist in the previous year, while 67 percent of urban residents had done so, according to a study utilizing 1999 National Health Interview Survey data.

  •
  • Large metropolitan areas have about 62 dentists per 100,000 population; most rural counties have only about 29 dentists per 100,000 population.

  •
  • Rural adults ages 18 to 64 are nearly twice as likely as urban residents to have lost all their teeth.

  •
  • Rural adults (33 percent) are more likely than non-rural adults (26 percent) to have untreated dental decay.

  •
  • 58 percent of the rural elderly (over age 65) had not seen a dentist in the previous year compared to 47 percent of the urban elderly.

  •
  • 38 percent of rural elderly and 27 percent of urban elderly had not seen a dentist in the previous three years.

  •
  • 72 percent of rural and 66 percent of urban elderly lack dental insurance.

  •
  • 37 percent of rural and 27 percent of urban elderly are edentulous (have no remaining teeth).

Donated Dental Services (DDS)

" The Donated Dental Services (DDS) program is a collaborative, direct way that the dental profession reaches out to individuals with special needs.

Because of the extraordinary compassion of over 2,600 dental laboratories and 12,000 dentists across the country, DDS tends to the essential and comprehensive dental care needs of our nation’s most vulnerable people; disabled, elderly or medically-compromised individuals who cannot afford necessary treatment nor get public aid. DDS patients have slipped through the cracks of Medicaid and Medicare programs with nowhere else to turn."

leads the nation in conducting and supporting research to improve oral health.

 As a research organization, NIDCR
does not provide financial assistance for dental treatment. The following resources, however, may help you find the dental care you need.

NIDCR sometimes seeks volunteers with specific dental, oral, and craniofacial conditions to participate in research studies, also known as clinical trials.

Researchers may provide study participants with limited free or low-cost dental treatment for the particular condition they are studying.

People have been commenting on my teeth. It has really lowered how I feel about myself. I'm ashamed to smile. As a result of my missing teeth, people think I'm angry all the time. Or they ask me if i'm sad. I know have a huge gap in the front and have been the subject of ridicule as well. I've been told that if I don't take care of this soon ( missing back teeth) all my teeth will fall out. Dear God, .i need to work. My smile used to be my best asset...losing my teeth because of hardship and poverty has been traumatic for me. It has also been hard to even meet anyone....when they see me smile, they laugh at me. Please, is there anyone out there that can help me?

I have never in my whole life had a beautiful smile when I was born and my teeth came in I was missing one of my front teeth. By the time I was in school I was teesed constantly everyday was horriable my parents trying to do what they could took me to an orthodontist to get braces and began a path to a new smile. The procedders were extreamly painful. The doctor once had me waiting so long with my mouth propted open that once it was time to close my mouth i couldnt it was very litally stuck. so he just forced my jaw shut i now have displacement in my jaw and it pops all the time i have lived with it for so long ive just gotten use to the pain. Sadly this was the 80s first my father lost his job then my mother. She took me back to this supposed dr to ask him to remove the braces she had the money in cash to do that. he refused and said he wanted full payment for services past due and amount to remove braces. Well needless to say she didnt have that kind of money so we left I had those braces on my teeth for over five years distroying and roting all of my teeth no adjustments no repairs for broken wires or loose brakets with time they some pieces fell away taking chunks of my teeth at the same time. I even had a device on the roof of my mouth called a butterfly that came loose on one side and became inbeded in my upper jaw. In time my mother found a dentist that would only remove them nothing else. Finally the braces came off but the damage had been done. It has since gotten worse pain physically emontionally and mentaly. My dream is to one day have a beautiful smile to be proud of and eat one item that I have never had. Take my first large bite out of a large gourgues APPLE. Ive never done that and have always wanted too.

I had a beautiful smile, then my financial situation changed. My teeth started causing me pain. I was told I had a infectionin my gums. With seven kids I could not afford the treatment. I was eventually told I needed a scaling and crowns and now I have peridontal disease. I am loosing teeth and all because I'm poor. I was abused by my mother as a child by my husband as a adult but watching my smile dissapear hurts more than the beatings. I no longer smile. And my heart is heavy because I feel like Im being punished for being poor

I just need to know if there is a low cost dental place in Phoenix that I can go to for a partial. I'm only 24 and I knocked out my front teeth when I was a kid and have always had false ones and now this plate has broken and my parents insurance dropped all of us kids by mistake. I'm going to have to deal with it out of pocket and that's fine but I need a new one as cheap as possible but would like to just have a bridge done.

Hello, I'm looking to see if anyone can help me. When I was 23 I was dianosed with lymphoma cancer in my chest and throat. I spent a year and a half fighting it with kemo and radiation.Thankfully it has now been 3 years and I have been cancer free. Yea me and I plan on staying that way. But for the last 3 years since than I have been battling my teeth. The dentists keep telling that my teeth are falling apart because of the kemo. So far as of aug 2012 I have spent over $8000, gone thru 4 insurance policy, and right $2100 in care credit cards that I'm in dept with. I can't get help at all in the state of Georgia because of my age. I have ran out of time with trying to get them fixed and started pulling them out as i can afford it. But the pain is really starting to get to me and the docs say that I'm tearing up my stomach eating pain meds like candy. But yet they can't help me till they get paid. I don't want anyone feeling sorry for me. I just wanna see if there is any help out there. If anyone knows anything PLEASE email me at Ive.lost.mymind@hotmail.com god bless and thank you!!!!

2007 New Years Eve, my mother died. I was walking trying to get to her before the corner picked up her body. With me was a dear close friend of mine. Well we were hit by a van, her first, then I. She ended up dying. I wasn't expected to live, let alone walk again, but I did. I'm going through some very hard times right I'm needing to surgerys, but no income. Trying to get disability, but that is hard as well. Due to the accident one tooth was knocked out, and about 4 of them were pulled out...a lot of my back teeth had to get pulled out because they were chipped. Through out the last past going on 5yrs more are chipping a few are broken and im starting to get in a lot of pain. I can't afford at least getting them filled or pulled out, some, I may have to have surgery to get them out. I'm in need of some help, can someone please help me??

I could not access the smile line. However, My teeth are decaying at a rapid pace. My medication, and low income to seek repair is the cause. Medicaid nor medicare will help me with the cost of extraction. And since I have so many medical problems I cannot find a dentist Who will try to extract The teeth. And If I did, I could not pay him can you please advised me what to do. Another surgery is required on my back but I can't have it util I do something about my teeth. You will find pics below of the reason I need another back surgery and I am in a brace for now. I am doing my best to at least get back functional. But I cannot go any farther until I get my teeth pulled. .

I am 49 and have spent my life taking care of others. For the past 18 yrs I have worn a night guard, trying to control teeth grinding in my sleep. Now I am at the point of constant pain, the top of my mouth behind my front teeth stays sore and inflamed from my bottom teeth digging into it. I have no natural resting point left. I have seen 2 dentist and a reconstruction specialist. They will only talk about crowning all of my teeth for a cost of over $30000. I have insurance thru my job but the limit is $1500 per year, this will really go a long way! Excellent medical insurance but it will not help. I guess I will live with it as long as I can. Thanks for listening.

I have SEVERE PERIODONTAL DISEASE. Many of my teeth are broken or cracked and are now becoming extremely loose. At one time I qualified for "Medical" services but unfortunately the state of California stopped allowing dental services for adults and I was unable to afford the services on my own. I was laid off almost two years ago and now the appearance and condition of my teeth is hindering my ability to find work. I believe that my teeth are in such a condition that they cannot be saved and I will need full dentures or implants of some kind. I am in need of information on possible financing or if there are any free programs located in Southern California that could possibly help me. I'M DESPERATE-PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU TO ANY ONE THAT HAS INFO FOR ME!!
